She Was Only Here a Week
With Her stripes and spots
and orange and brown, black, grey and white
with the sommersault onto my head that first night in bed
she found her way into my heart
though Jake wanted badly to be friends
she met him only with a hiss and a grudging peace
She knew somehow that she was here for me
coming so soon after the loss of Kit
She helped me grieve for Kit and reminded me of the Joy in life
She was loved and she loved in return .......and is sadly missed by daddy and her brother Jake
