One of my hobbies (or maybe "passions" is a better term for it) is amateur photography. I just love getting out there and taking pictures of my world. I'll probably never win any awards but I'm having fun doing it, and that's what matters most to me.

Yes, I do own a video camera -- I think they have a place in life, but I also feel that they tend to be cold and not particularly artistic  So I may use them to record events, but my heart really belongs to my still camera. Still pictures -- now there's a different story. To me, they really capture the moment and freeze it in time.

I use just a simple camera, a Nikon Nice-Touch with Macro Zoom. No special attachments, no special film -- just your standard 400 ISO. I don't even use Kodak film, but instead buy the Costco store brand. I don't develop the photos myself either, just rely on Costco's inexpensive photo processing.  Recently, I've acquired a Sony FD92 Mavica digital camera.  I'm still getting the hang of it but right now it's my favorite camera to use.

Do I get good results? Judge for yourself...what do you think? Occasionally I do succumb and use my Fujica SLR camera, but only because it can be better adjusted to differing lighting conditions (the Nikon is autoexposure, autofocus) plus it has a 200mm zoom lens. I prefer the Nikon, though.

My most favorite subject of all to photograph has to be Mount Rainier in Washington State.
