Daily Devotionals

As best as possible, we're going to update this once a week.  If you're looking for something specific, write me, and I can probably email it to you.  Also, if you have any devotions, feel free to send them to me and I will post them.  Thanks and enjoy.

The Spirit of the LORD will come upon you in power, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.          1 Samuel 10:6

So many people speak about the Spirit of the LORD, about the Holy Ghost, if you will.  Ask a hundred pastors what it’s like when the Holy Spirit is moving, and you will probably get a hundred answers.  Some would call it a drunken feeling; some would say you have to speak in tongues, while another would say you can’t feel it.  All of those may happen. But here’s the biggie.  Here’s how you know that the Spirit is working in you.  You are becoming and acting like a different person!  No, your voice won’t change, and your hair will still look frizzy in the morning.  But inside, where you think and where you feel, that’s where you are changed.  When the Holy Spirit is working, what used to be pieces of you are now pieces of God.  That’s why Paul tells us in 2nd Corinthians “we… are being transformed into his likeness”.    If you’ve never felt that attitude adjusting, life changing power, you can ask for it now.  God is a rewarder of those that seek Him.  He loves you and desires to work and move in you.

If I say, “I will not mention Him or speak any more in His name," his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.  Jeremiah 20:9

I have heard it over and over, “I don’t talk about Jesus much because that’s for the preacher to do”.   Or “I just don’t know what to say  But that’s the cool thing about Jesus.   When you finally run face to face with the God of Creation, you find that speaking about God isn’t something you have to make yourself do.  Anyone who has had an encounter with Him will find himself or herself talking about Him without realizing it.

It’s like the first time you fall in love.  You think about them all day, your conversation somehow always seems to lead back around to that person.  You don’t try to do it necessarily; you just can’t help yourself.  The same is true of God.  When you fall in love with God, being silent about Him is like “a fire shut up in [your] bones”.  Try as you might, the greatness of God comes through with burning, cleansing release.
