Ilion Police Officer Honored

Anyone who sees Ilion Police Officer Brian Lamica might want to tip their hat as April 16, 2007 has been named Brian Lamica Day in Herkimer County. Lamica found himself feeling speechless for a few moments that Monday evening as the members of Ilion Community Watch, the Mayor of Ilion, the Herkimer County Legislature Chairman and the Ilion Police Chief all recognized Lamica for his years of service and proclaiming April 16th as Lamica's day.
Brian was honored for 20 years of service with the Ilion police department, during which he spent 17 years as a DARE officer in Ilion schools and has long been a juvenile officer, having served as president of the State of New York Police Juvenile Officers Association, and for the past 12 years, Lamica has served as liaison for Ilion Community Watch, a group which he helped found back in 1995.
“He's been there since the inception of the program and he's stuck with it,” said Police Chief Tim Parisi. “And more than just Community Watch, Officer Lamica is a police officer who is interested in his community.”

Along with the proclimations, Lamica was presented with an oil portorait painted by local artist Glenn Golden.
