This was Killer. He was the most wonderful dog in the world but due to negligence, he was killed on March 9, 2006. I know that I will never find another best friend just like him but thanks to a wonderful woman in Iowa, I will get the chance to love again and hopefully in time my heart will mend. Mr brother gave us a little female chihuahua but I don't know yet how that is going to work out. My sister-in-law called and told me that I can only feed her one kind of food... no treats... and when she goes into heat, I have to let her breed her so that she can get a puppy, sell it and make her money back... even though I said that I didn't think they were supposed to breed during their first heat... she said that the dog should be strong enough. I guess we'll see how that one plays out. We have mailed off the payment for a wonderful little 4 yr old male miniature Chihuahua named Boo Boo and hopefully he will help us heal. The saddest part of this story is that there really isn't much that can be done in situations like this. Alabama, and most other states view animals as property and if a vet kills your baby and you can prove that it was negligence after spending $30,000 to $50,000 on lawyers, court, filing fees, etc., the court will only award you market value for your pet. This means that the bastards that steal your baby don't have to pay for all of the emotional hurt that they cause you. Animals are not "property" and they are not put on this earth to be abused or neglected. They are best friends, heroes, and often times our saviours and they should be treated with the respect that they deserve. Killer, I am sorry that we took you to that vet to get you neutered and he took you from us. I am sorry that our legal system is so screwed up that they can't see what you and many others meant to so many people, and most importantly, I am sorry that humans value the almighty dollar more than the love of a wonderful friend.
May you rest in peace in the arms of the angels my little man. |
