New Covenant Church believes in world missions as a primary tool in spreading the Gospel throughout the earth! We have been blessed in sending out several families and individuals as "homegrown" missionaries serving on foreign soil, fulfilling the call of God on their lives. Our Foreign Mission Board serves as a liason between the Church and these missionaries, as well as "Global Servants", through which we have "adopted" an unreached people group: the Akha tribe of Thailand.
The Foreign Mission Board purposes as well, to educate and inspire the congregation for world evangelization, thus stimulating intercessory prayer, while developing and preparing short-term, and career missionary recruitment from our Body of believers.
We will have, in the near future, a list of the missionaries we help to support and a little about each of their ministries. This board is currently headed up by Dr. Randy Malone.
On August 21-22, we will be holding our annual Foreign Missions Conference. This year, however, the theme and overall direction will be a little different. While we will recognize and honor the other missions we actively support, the main emphasis of the conference will be Israel.
NCC has recently begun supporting "Embrace Israel", a multi-faceted ministry based in Israel that, among other things, ministers to the body of believers there. Its director, Reuven Doron, will be our main conference speaker. You really don't want to miss this. Reuven, a veteran of the 1973 Yom Kippur war (his unit defended the Golon Heights), later came to the U.S. where he met and gave his life to Jesus. Reuven has co-pastored with Francis Frangipane and is closely associated here with other leaders in the Body of Christ. His ministry is world-wide and his vision for the Church and Israel in the last days is one you will definitely want to hear.
We desire to seek out areas of community need and determine how we, as a Church, can specifically meet that need. Though we are not capable of ministering to the "totality" of human necessity, we believe that outreach is a valid tool in touching those outside our Body of believers.
Our Home Missions Board serves as a catalyst in educating and inspiring the congregation towards "home" outreach as well as encouraging and prayerfully funding organized outreach ministries within the Body.
Lee Russell heads up our Home Missions board and we are currently seeking candidates for a full time associate pastor who will be responsible for overseeing our outreach ministries.
We hope to soon include a list of our other home missionaries and a description of their ministries.
As you recall from last month, God has prompted us to take the gospel to the Cherokee Projects which are located on Reid Street in Thomasville. As the name indicates, we will leave the walls of our church and go to "establish" a church in this neighborhood. At this time, there is no building (therefore the name "Church Without Walls"), but the church as we all know is not a building but a body.
For us to minister to that body, we felt we must first take a pulse. We did this by going door to door meeting the people and asking questions. Everyone we met was very responsive and open. It was very obvious from their comments that most everyone has been exposed to some form of church outreach and has had the gospel presented to them, but there has been no power in their lives to effect change.
As we talked to one person after another, it became apparent there is no repentance. Considering this, how should we proceed? At this point, prayer is the obvious answer. We need to hear from God for:
These are the prayers of intercession, and we desperately need intercessors. Nothing eternal will be done without God's direction and plan.
As God reveals details of the plan and strategy, there will also be a need for many laborers. If you have ever considered going on a mission trip, come go with us. It won't cost as much, and you will receive the same reward. We would love to hear from you.
Your brother in Christ,
Lee Russell
