Hello, I am pleased to list the animals for adoption at The Scott County Animal Shelter in Georgetown, Kentucky, as well as other information which may be helpful for you or your pet.
I would like to take a moment to tell you a little about the Scott County Animal Shelter and the Scott County Humane Society.  They are two different organizations working with each other for the benifit of the animals in our community.  The Humane Society is a fun group of dedicated volunteers working together to improve the lives of animals here in Scott County. They are dependent of your donations.  


The Animal Shelter is County funded.  Here you can come and view the animals for adoption, or if you have lost a pet check to see if it has been turned in or reported found.

(adoptions begin at 10:00 a.m.)

Shelter Adoption fees are:
$60 dogs and puppies.  Fee includes shots, dog license & spay or neuter.

$40 cats and kittens.  Fee includes shots & spay or neuter.

The Humane Society offer Coupons available for $20 off Spay or $10 off Neuter.
DID YOU KNOW?    THAT ALL DOGS IN THE STATE OF KENTUCKY ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE YEARLY RABIES VACCINE AND WEAR A CURRENT DOG LICENSE.  THE RABIES VACCINE MUST BE GIVEN BY A LICENSED VET.  PURCHASED AT THE SHELTER AND MOST VETS THE DOG LICENSE FEE IS ONLY $1.50    THE DOG LICENSE EXPIRE EVERY YEAR JUNE 30TH AND MUST BE RENEWED.

IN THE CITY LIMITS OF GEORGETOWN AND IN THE RESIDENTIAL SUB DEVISIONS IN THE COUNTY, THERE IS A LEASH LAW.  ALL DOGS MUST STAY ON THEIR PROPERTY UNLESS THEIR OWNER IS WITH THEM.  THERE IS A BARKING DOG ORDINANCE AGAINST EXCESSIVE BARKING, AND THERE IS A POOPER SCOOPER ORDINANCE IN THE CITY, IF YOUR ANIMAL DEFICATES ON YOUR NEIGHBORS PROPERTY, YOU MUST PICK IT UP.

THERE ARE NO LAWS AGAINST CATS.
CALL THE SHELTER FOR MORE INFORMATIOON
EACH YEAR THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, OUR LOCAL VETS AND THE SCOTT COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER COORDINATE A RABIES VACCINATION CLINIC.  THE RABIES SHOT IS $3.00 AND THE DOG LICENSE IS $1.50.  THE CLINIC IS USUALLY SCHEDULED MAY OR JUNE BUT HAS NOT BEEN SCHEDULED YET  SO CHECK BACK FOR MORE INFORMATION.
