JOHN OWENS I died 1750.  He married Ann.

Children of John Owens and Ann are:

1. ZACHARIAH OWENS I, died 1789.  He married Lucretia.

2. Thomas Owens, born Abt. 1738; died Bet. 1817 - 1818.  He married Grace.

3. John Owens II.

4. Sarah Owens.

ZACHARIAH  OWENS I (John1) died 1789.  He married Lucretia.

Children of Zachariah Owens and Lucretia are:

1. WILLIAM JAMES OWENS.  He married Elizabeth Crane

2.  Zachariah Owens II, died Abt. 1822.

3.  Peter Owens.  He married Lovey Bateman February 26, 1791.

4.  James Owens.  He married Margery Twiddy July 7, 1794.

4.  Uriah Owens, died December 1, 1865.  He married Mary Jones December 2, 1852.

5.  Owen Owens.

6.  John Owens.  He married (1) Milly Rosco September 29, 1800.  He married (2) Sally Sykes November 28, 1829.

7.  Jehu Owens.

8.  Thomas Owens.

WILLIAM JAMES OWENS (Zachariah2, John1).  He married Elizabeth Crane February 5, 1807.

Children of William Owens and Elizabeth Crane are:

1.  Dorcas Owens, born May 22, 1808.

2.  ZACHARIAH OWENS, born 1816 in Tyrrell County, NC; died 1879 in forest fire, Clabber Point, Tyrrell Co, NC. along with second wife and all of their children.

3.  Byancy Owens, born March 18, 1819.  She married William Truxton Twiford.

4.  James Owens, born October 12, 1825.

5.  Hopsa Owens, born July 12, 1828.  She married Thomas Basnight.

ZACHARIAH OWENS (William James3, Zachariah2, John1) was born 1816 in Tyrrell County, NC, and died 1879 in forest fire, Clabber Point, Tyrrell Co, NC.  He married (1) Leah Sawyer, daughter of Griffin Sawyer and Rachel Cullipher.  He married (2) Margaret.

Children of Zacharich Owens and Leah Sawyer are:

1.  Keziah Owens.

2.  Griffin Owens, born 1839.

3.  Rachel Owens, born January 1842.

4.  WILLIAM JAMES R. OWENS, born February 28, 1844;  Buried in Frying Pan, Tyrrell County, NC.

5.  Susan Owens, born 1844.

6.  Hopesay L. Owens, born 1848 in Tyrrell County, NC; died January 14, 1890 in Second Creek, Tyrrell County,  NC.

7.  Rodea C. Owens, born 1849.

8.  Richard H. Owens, born August 14, 1851.

9.  Henry W. Owens, born October 18, 1853.

10.  Dovery J. Owens, born September 30, 1856.

WILLIAM JAMES R. OWENS (Zacharich4, William James3, Zachariah2, John1) was born February 28, 1844, and is buried in Frying Pan, Tyrrell County, NC.  He married (2) Phebe Simmons, daughter of Absolem Simmons and Ruth Sawyer.  He married (1) Mary "Polly" Ward. (believed to have died in childbirth)

Children of William Owens and Phebe Simmons are:

1.  WILLIAM ALBERT OWENS, Sr., born June 10, 1892 in Chowan County, NC;  died June 14, 1953 in Elizabeth City, NC.  He is buried in the Bodwell-West Cemetery, Tyrrell Co., NC.   He married Corinthia Sawyer, daughter of William and Martha Ainsley Sawyer, born Jan. 16, 1898 (still living age 100).

2.  Johnson Haywood Owens, born April 2, 1878 in Tyrrell County, NC; died March 11, 1966 in Tyrrell County, NC.

3.  Charlie Owens, died in Philadelphia, PA.

4.  Nat Owens.  She married Elec Sykes.

5.  James Franklin Owens, born September 12, 1894 in Tyrrell County, NC; died April 16, 1978 in Edenton, NC.

1.  Sarah Frances Owens, born October 3, 1872; died September 3, 1943; Buried at Malachi FWB Church, Tyrrell County, NC.  She married Ephraim M. Simmons, Sr., brother to her stepmother Phebe Simmons.
