Depressed?
Hello my name is Malibu Hands.
I am a Registered Nurse. I am trying to find relief for myself
and others.
Have you ever felt sad for no
reason and it persists for weeks, you either sleep too much or
can't sleep at all, you either lose your appetite or eat too much.
You feel miserable, tired, hopeless. You could have depression.
The following are just suggestions
that have been well researched before I published them. Nothing
replaces seeing your doctor. You may need medication to control
your depression. I do and am not ashamed of it any more. So
please for yourself If you feel persistant sadness see your
doctor you could feel much better with a little help.
Alternatives
to Anti-Depressants
One alternative is 5-HTP a natural
extract from the seeds of the Griffonia plant. This is used in
place of L-Tryptophan which was banned from over the counter
sales because of an outbreak of eosinophilia myalgia syndrome
from a bad batch of tryptophan. 5-HTP raises the serotonin levels
in the brain as do anti-depressants. The recommended dose of 5-HTP
for depression is 100 mg three times a day with meals. If stomach
upset occurs start at 25 or 50mg and work up. 5-HTP has few side
effects which include mild digestive distress, and mild
drowsiness which decreases with time. The full effects take up to
4 week so be patient.
Vitamins are another alternative.
Maybe even the cause of your depression is from a lack of these
vitamins. You can take a B-complex supplement or the individual
vitamins which include: Bioton300mcg, Folic Acid400-800mcg,
Pantothenic Acid100-500mg, Riboflavin(B2)100-500mg, Niacin(B3)100-500mg,
Pyridoxine(B6)100-500mg, Cobalamin(B12)100-500mg.
St. John's Wort is a natural herbal
remedy for depression with little if any side effects including
fatigue, sun sensitivity, and mild stomach upset. The recommended
dose of St. John's Wort is 1 capsule three times a day of 0.3%
standardized Hypericin 300mg capsules.
Note: consult your physician before
beginning any therapy, what is right for one person may not be
right for another person.
At the end of the rain there is a rainbow,
so please get help for yourself and for your family. Life can be
enjoyable again with a little help.
