The Pollard Report

Christmas in
Carolina

Our third Christmas in Carolina, and different from what most us think of as Christmas weather.  No snow, for one thing.   In the distance on the left, over Lee's shoulder, are beach houses on the barrier island that protects us from the Atlantic Ocean.  The islands face South towards the Gulf Stream, and keep this area about 10 warmer in the Winter and 100  cooler in the Summer than 50 miles North or West of us.  (Let's not think too much about the humidity in the Summer though).  Lee is standing on the tee of the Par 3, Number 2, hole on our golf course.  Our house is in the woods about 100 yards back of the tree Joe is leaning against and about 150 feet to the right of the Number 2 green, over the marsh.  The scenery is much more impressive than the house, but it's comfy enough for us.

The Clarke tradition of sending photo Christmas cards of the kids was shattered this Christmas.  We received cards from  everyone, but only 3 with photos.

1. From Nancy &  Vinnie, pix of  the Clarke-Mattone clan:
L to R: Mike, James, Vince and Katie.  Vince sure looks like his Grandpa Ray at the same age.  Mike keeps up with us  by E Mail.  When you finish this go back to the Home Page and drop us a note to tell us you saw it

2.  From Moira and Ray, the Connecticut clan presents the overall  girls: Elizabeth (the Queen herself) and sister  Maureen.

3. From Paula and Rob of the Long Island Sound clan, this picture of Bobby and Emily, obviously not taken at Christmastime.

4.  Many of you remember  Kathee (Bach) Falvo who lived with us in Maryland for a while until she met and happily married a great guy, Tony Falvo. This is their beautiful family today, well over  twenty years later. They live in Central Pennsylvania.
L to R: (rear) Tony, Nick, Kathee, (front) Caitlin, Megan and Aidan.
