Follow the wagon to my Garrison surnames

My great grandmother, Amanda Garrison Martin and her husband Andrew Martin traveled back and forth to Oregon, in a covered wagon, in the 1870's. They had many adventures, settling for a time in Nebraska where they grew watermelons for seed. The agent took the seeds to sell, but never returned with the cash, they lost their money and returned to Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, where they stayed for many years
Please bear in mind that very little of this information is proven. However, along with the errors there are clues to areas of research.
