MY FAVORITE SUNFLOWER RECIPES

SUNFLOWER PIE

3 eggs, 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/4 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup light syrup 1/2 cup dark syrup, 3 tblspns melted sunflower margarine 1 tsp vanilla, 1 cup roasted sunflower kernels

Beat eggs until blended but not frothy. Combine sugars, syrups, margarine and vanilla. Stir in eggs. Spread sunflower kernels. on the bottom of an unbaked pie shell. Pour mixture over and bake at 325 degrees for 60 minutes.

CRINKLE SUNFLOWER COOKIES

1 cup white sugar, 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup shortening, 2 eggs beaten 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp baking powder 2 cups flour, 2 cups oatmeal 1 cup coconut, 1 cup sunflower kernels 1 tsp baking soda

Cream shortening and sugars together. Add beaten eggs and vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients, oatmeal, coconut and sunflower kernels. Drop from teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake 350 degrees F until brown. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.

PEA SALAD

1 can peas, 1/4 cup diced cheese 2 hardboiled eggs sliced, 1/4 cup sunflower kernels 1/4 cup diced celery, 1/2 cup salad dressing onion powder, salt & Pepper, 1 tsp sugar 2 tsp mustard, 2 tblsp vinegar

Drain peas, add cheese, eggs, sunflower kernels, celery, onion powder, salt and pepper. Mix remaining ingredients and mix well.
