Congratulations!

A little while ago a 10 year old friend of mine confided in me that she wanted Flash and Splash. She told me that she would trade her Maple for them. I told her I'd try to find them, and proceeded to find a trade with a wonderful person who now owns a beautiful Maple bear. When I showed Splash and Flash to my 10 year old friend, her eyes lit up and the smile on her face was contagious to everyone in the room. I would like a chance to make another child's eyes light up like that.
Well, I have gone through all the entries that came in, as well as talking it over with friends and family. Each essay that arrived was wonderful, but I finally chose 6 year old Sarah Mort as the winner. Congratulations Sarah!
Here is her essay:

My name is Sarah, and I'm 6 years old. I started collecting beanie babies after my baby brother died last year. He got his first beanie baby, Hoot the Owl, when he was in the hospital. My first two beanies were Dotty the Dalmation and Ziggy the Zebra. I got Dotty because my brother liked dalmations and I got Ziggy because everyone in my family has zebra pants and Jacob, my brother, got a zebra rocking horse for his first birthday. My brother liked to watch T.V. He liked to watch VeggieTales and his Dalmations Sing Along. My brother liked dalmations so much that we bought him a poster with dalmations and put it on the ceiling in his bedroom up above his crib. The rest of my beanie babies are Inky, Sly, Happy, Mystic, Peanut, Pouch, Chocolate, Gobbles, Inch, Twigs, Wrinkles, Kuku, Nuts, Whisper and two Jakes - we called my brother Jake-Jake. I want the Princess Diana bear because my brother died on the same day as Princess Diana. If I get the Princess Diana bear I will put it in the curio cabinet when I'm not holding her so the tag doesn't get all torn up. We got the curio cabinet after Jacob died so we could put his toys in it because we didn't want to sell them in the rummage because they are very special to us.

Sarah chose to donate proceeds to the Ronald MacDonald House of Ann Arbor, MI. She says that this is where the family stayed when Jacob was in the hospital for all of his surgeries. You can e-mail Sarah at cgheiser@juno.com.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to e-mail me me anytime and I will get back to you ASAP! While you're here, please vote for my beanie idea!
