The

Absolutely the best book I own. The bible of genealogy
Polish
Parish Records of the Roman Catholic Church, Their Use and Understanding
in Genealogical Research This book describes the structure of Polsih
names in church records and conversation, how to read the records, Polish/English
translations and more. Did you know, if you are looking for Kazmierczak
you also have to look for Kazmiercakow, and Smolinski can be Smolinska
or Smolinskiego. It all depends on where the name is in a sentence and
how it is used. This book explains this. I am continually referring
to this book, even when talking to relatives on the phone. Also, extremely
helpful if you order films from a FAMILY HISTORY CENTER. This book is currently
out of print; but you can try and order it.
I also recommend that you get a small LATIN dictionary, since church
records are written in Latin.
