One of the things that I didn't expect when I started my genealogical journey was the tremendous pride that I feel in those who have gone before me. I discovered grandfathers who fought in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War. Even though their stories aren't documented, the women who stood beside their husbands during war times and traveled with them to distant places to settle the new frontiers of our country are a constant source of inspiration. I discovered ancestors that carried their faith with them on these journeys and formed churches in two different states. I also learned that these churches are still standing, alive and well, more than 150 years since their beginnings.
