J.
E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School was established in 1957 through the
generosity of the Cosgriff-Sturdevant families in memory of J. E. Cosgriff,
husband of the late Mrs. Mildred Cosgriff.
The first school session began on September 3, 1957, with six grades and
kindergarten. The Daughters of Charity initially staffed the school and
continued until 1992. Through the years, the school expanded to Kindergarten
through Eighth Grade. The Extended Day Program was added in 1995 to complement
the school program.
Our school is supported by St. Ambrose Parish of Salt Lake City. This
parish is community centered and family oriented. Most of the students at
Cosgriff School are from St. Ambrose Parish families. This makes the school a
strong parent-student centered school.
J. E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School has high expectations for its
students and works to promote a whole education for its students. High
standards are held up for the students in all academic areas; the curriculum
is made more complete by the art, music, computer education, Spanish,
physical education and library skills classes. Parent support and
participation in the life of the school is a vital part of the success of our
school.
