"Helen Banks" |
Founder of Second Chance for Greyhounds and lifelong animal advocate. For All The Greys She Has Saved And All The Greys She Has Yet To Save!Helen Thank you so very much for your love, caring and tireless devotion. Without your rescue efforts there would be so many more racing Greyhounds left with little or no hope for life, for a "Second Chance".We know that you truly care for all of your "babies" and through your efforts, there are many thousands of Greys including Sweet Pea, Jones,Jill and Blue Moon who are in loving, responsible homes throughout the USA and parts of Europe. We are all eternally grateful to you for giving them a "Second Chance" at life and providing the inspiration to move people towards the common goal that"the welfare of the Greyhound is the basis of all actions, placements and efforts on their behalf".Keep up the GREYT work and know that it has not gone unnoticed! We love you ! Wags, nits, and squeals of Greyhound delight!

On Page 1. You Will Meet "Sweet Pea and Blue Moon".Sweet Pea Is The Fawn Colored Greyhound. She Was Born On Dec-16-1993.I Adopted Sweet Pea From Second Chance For Greyhounds. Blue Moon is the Blue Greyhound. She was born in Oct-1992.I also adopted her From Second Chance For Greyhounds. She rode all the way from Florida to Grand Rapids on an airplane.I waited so impatiently and nervous at that airport for her arrival.Believe me she was well worth the wait.It was love at first sight.I have truely been blessed with these 2 wonderful girls. Also You Will Meet two more Greyhounds that were saved by Helen Banks! They are "Jill and Jones", adopted by Steve and Diane Scudder of Grand Rapids, MI. Jill is a 5 year old fawn female who was so terrified of everything from the abuses she suffered that it took many months of therapy and love to gain her trust. She is now " the lover " of the family and only physically resembles the shattered Greyhound that arrived to her new home July 3,1994. She was a resident a Helen Banks' home for several months to help "condition her" for adoption before coming to Michigan For the select few who have special needs, Helen will bring them to her home to give them the extraordinary care needed. Jill had to be sedated for the trip from Florida to Grand Rapids and arrived to find a new "big brother" named Jones who's mission it became to bring her out of her shell and show her the ropes, so to speak. Jones is an 8 1/2 year old fawn male who had a long racing career and is "the sweetest animal I've ever known", states his "Dad" Steve. Jones arrived in Michigan on April 5,1994 and immediately invaded and conquered the hearts of Steve and Diane. He is and always will be the inspiration behind their efforts to save these gentle and intelligent creatures from the fate that awaits so many of their kind.
