Chief, Good to find your site. I've often wondered where/how you were. Don't know if you remember me but came to the Franklin at EB as a green RM3 and left as an RM1(SS). I retired in 1985 as a chief, selected for Senior. Envious of your site. I've never ound time to get one set up though my work now is 100% computer related. I get out to MO a couple of times a year. I'd like to look you up for old times sake. Haven't run into many from back then and have definitely lost touch. Take care.

Since I left Naples in 1974 I went to recruiting duty in Mass and Then Maine for five years. Made CHIEF on recruiting duty then transferred to Minn for two years of recruiting and retired in 1981 from Minneapolis. I forgot to mention, on recruiting duty in Maine I met my new bride and have been together to date. Went to Florida upon retirement and worked for IBM several years and in 1988 took a large buy-out. In 1988 went to work for Palm Beach C unty as Communications Supervisor at Palm Beach International Airport. Stayed 10 years and just retired in Oct 1998. We built a new home in Vero Beach Florida. www.indianriverclub.com will give you idea of where we are. I play golf 5 to 6 days a week and am taking guitar lessons which is something I always wanted to do. Spend a lot of hours on the internet also. I was just surfing, and found the Benjamin Franklin Site, then your name, and then your site. We served together, I was on the Franklin '66 to '69. I remember you as being a good Chief! A little flattery! I worked with Jerry Shotts in sonar. Do you rememb r that when we were in Guam before our patrols, the chiefs and officers use to like to go to a resturant/bar high on a mountain. I use to volunteer to drive everyone up. I would make a couple of trips and then wait in the van. They never could understand hy I was so willing to do this time and time again. I'm finally going to tell you....as I sat in that van listening to those inside having fun, all of a sudden a knock came on the window and one of the officers or chiefs would be there handing me a drink, but saying "don't tell anyone!" I never did until now. However, during the course of the night at least 5 or 6 drinks would show up with "don't tell anyone"! I had a great time/every time, as far as I can remember! You have a fantastic site, however when ill the Franklin construction be completed? I have some good pictures if you need some. I often wonder what ever happened to the great Chiefs wardroom picture...the naked girl standing in a lake with the periscope coming out of the water behind her! Take are!

I served in GUDGEON from JUL 67 thru NOV 68. Got my dolphins in SEP 68. When I reported aboard, the boat was near the end of the "SubSafe" overhaul that installed the EMBT blow system that was being tested when one of your pix was shot. I went to PICKEREL next. The last boat I was in was JOHN MARSHALL, where I spent 55 months. It has been 20 years since I was last underway in a submarine (had to take my SUBLANT "Staff Puke" ride to keep sub pay). Sometimes, I miss it; other times I'm gla I don't have to do it ever again!
