Here's how to use the Surfer's Bible Study -
If you click on a photo you'll go to the page whence I "downloaded" it.

If you click on the Bible verse, you'll go to the GOSHEN page with the commentaries for it. If you want to study God's Word though, consider attending a Bible study group at your friendly neighborhood church. Someone there will be able to tell you, for instance, why Jesus is the true vine.
What the heck - while the pictures load, I'll give you my take on that verse.
If plants of the same specie are close to each other on the ground, the roots touch and graft together (except for conifers). Water or nitrogen absorbed into a root can translocate several feet away and rise in a stem from another root system, because it's really just one big root system because it's all connected.
So, whether you're looking at an 'Ulu grove or a vinyard, what you're really looking at is one big plant - it just looks like more than one because it's connected where we can't see.
When Jesus says that He is the true vine and we are the branches, He refers to the fact that we are all connected to each other through Him, though we can't see how.
In Matthew He says, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." - get it? - He doesn't say it's LIKE we did it for Him - He says we DID it for Him.
Mother Teresa said that she pulled starving diseased people out of the ditches because when she looked into their faces, she saw the face of Jesus.
A vinyard is just a physical representation of the true, eternal, vine - Jesus.

John 3: 6

Psalm 96: 11

Psalm 146: 6

Psalm 77: 19

Matthew 16: 3

Jonah 2: 3

Jeremiah 31: 35

Amos 5: 8

The LORD is his name:

Habakkuk 3:15

Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, through the heap of great waters. ...Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Revelation 14: 7

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice,

Isaiah 51:15

But I am the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The LORD of hosts is his name.

Exodus 14: 22

And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

Hebrews 11: 12

By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
...Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

Mark 4: 39

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another,
What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

Psalm 107: 25

These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.
For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.

Isaiah 11: 9

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

Amos 3: 3

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
