Baseball, football, and basketball are the three prevalent team sports in the Barnesville area.

The Atlanta Braves are experiencing some outstanding years after years of famine. The Braves will be playing in their new stadium this year ( the former olympic stadium). Turner Field will be the new Home of the Braves . We have the advantage of only being 55 miles from Turner Field and only 35 miles from Luther Williams Field where the Minor League Baseball: Macon Braves play. Minor league baseball allows you to get closer to the game and the players at a cheaper price too!

The Atlanta Hawks have been improving ever since Lenny Wilkins came to coach them. They are beginning to pack the Omni these days.

Hopefully the Atlanta Falcons will be able to start the climb back up toward respectable football. Maybe the new coach Dan Reeves can work some of the magic Bobby Cox and Lenny Wilkins have used for the Braves and Hawks.

Gordon College is local and usually fields a pretty good baseball team. The Lady Generals tennis team appears to be having a good start this spring. Sorry, but no links to their teams. Local sports scene can be followed in our local Herald Gazette by clicking on Sports at that site.

The University of Georgia( Georgia Bulldogs )and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets rivalry is fierce,but generally friendly. However we did teach each of our children as they were growing up that all gold helmets were "BAD". Both teams have been struggling the last couple of years but things are looking up in both camps.
