Sandy's Spot

I guess you came here to get to know me a little better, huh? Well, here it goes, short and sweet.lol
I am Sandy and am a single parent of three living in the farm area of the Pocono's, in Pennsylvania. I have lived here for all but the first 2 my 42 years, living on a 150-year-old farm. As a child we had Horses, ponies, ducks, pigs, cows, chickens, rabbits, cats, dogs, and hamsters. After high school I had a scholarship to go to art school and decided not to take it and study in psychology at the local community college instead, my thoughts being there was no future in art in my small town. So after school I worked for the Blind Association, for approximately a year. I then worked in an institution for the mentally challenged. After a few years I became a Program Supervisor in a community living arrangement with 5 women. I worked there until I had my children.
I now have 3 children, 2 dogs, and about 50 fish, 22 chickens and live on a piece of the farm land which has been in my family for many years. I had my children I decided to work at home to spend quality time raising what is our future.A friend told me I should try and get into the art field. I always loved stained glass, so I took a few lessons and through trial and error found I enjoyed it. So I strung up a clothesline and set a table outside near the road and made a small sign, and began to sell my original stained glass items from the road. After a few years I was approached by an Artist to sub-contract the glass products of his business. We are now in various stores like Barney's New York, Gumps, Neiman-Marcus, and various shops in Apsen and Washington DC. And I thought there was no future in art in a small town? lol Now after what seems to be "Acheiving the American Dream" I decided I could become something else. So I found myself back in College and taking courses to get my B.A. degree in Social Services. I currently work for the IU 20 and I am an Associate Teacher, in an Autistic Support classroom, pay stinks but the benefits are well worth it. I teach workshops on sign language and tutor on the side. My goal is to become a certified Interpreter for the Hearing Impaired. I have the first test behind me, now to conquer the second. I have wonderful kids, and friends who give me support and help along the way, I don't want to let them down.*huge smile* Thank you to everyone along the way.
