George

This is George Stone Hallmark Hinely. He followed
the children to Hallmark Elementary School one very cold morning in
March. In fact it was the coldest day of the year. George wanted to
be inside where it was warm and he could get lots of attention, so he
spent the day running in each time the door was cracked.
Unfortunately, George ran into classrooms causing so much chaos that
the Animal Shelter was called. Fortunately, George found great hiding
places and went undetected during the gestapo search. He reappeared
at dismissal time, jumping in a bus and causing the kids to scream
and the bus driver to throw him off. He repeated this on each bus
down the line. I closed my eyes when the buses pulled out and prayed
that he wouldn't be squashed. He dodged all of the wheels and then
darted back in the school with the teachers and followed us into the
faculty meeting. Mrs. Lewis jumped up on a chair and screamed "Get
him out!!!! I'm allergic to cats!!!!" I (Ms. Hinely) came to his
rescue and gave him to Elizabeth (a 5th grader) and asked her to lock
him in my classroom. Mrs. Fox (the principal) told her that he had to
go OUTSIDE! An hour later I found him huddled beside the largest oak
tree in the schoolyard trying to get out of the cold wind. Now George
lives with me and keeps my feet warm every night.
