John T. & Dinah Jones Evans (Scranton, PA) Family Home Page
John T. Evans was born December 12, 1844 in Wales. He was a coal miner by trade. He married Dinah Jones about 1865 in Wales. John arrived at the port of New York on the 20th of July, 1879. He settled in Scranton, PA. He continued to labor as a coal miner. In 1880, his wife Dinah and their 6 children joined him. John became a US citizen on the 4th of October, 1882, at the Court of Quarter Session, Lackawanna County, PA. His naturalization papers show that he was born the 14th of December, 1845. Eventually they purchased a home at 2137 Wayne Ave., in the Providence section of Scranton. John died of pneumonia and pluracy on January 26, 1901. He is burried at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Dunmore, PA.© 1997 highlandfarm@embarqmail.com
