Orilla Kingsley was born in Pawlet, Vt. in 1801. She married Philo Shelton Hall who settled in New York in 1835. Orilla Kingsley was the daughter of
Elias Kingsley, born 1773, probably in Conn, and Judith Reed. In 1820 Census, Elias lived in Nunda, Allegany County, N.Y. Elias was the son of
Ebenezer, born 4/26/1747 in Conn. In 1800 Ebenezer lived in Nunda, N. Y. Ebenezer married Frances Bennett. Ebenezer's son, Ebenezer, too, born in 1774, was quite the adventurer. From Stepping Out, a little magazine written by Alex Badenack, "Ebenezer Kingsley removed his family from Genessee County, N. Y. on a rude raft in 1802 on the Allegany river stopping in Forest County, Penn. at the mouth of Tionseta Creek and settling at Old Town for the winter and for many years lived in that vicinity and had a township named after him."(He named most of the townships in this area; Jake's Run, Jughandle, Salmon Run, etc.) This Ebenezer moved to Missouri in 1830, apparently to find more wide open space because Forest County was getting too crowded.
Ebenezer's father was Salmon, born in Conn. in 1723. Salmon married Lydia Burgess. Lydia was a direct descendant of Mayflower passenger, Stephen Hopkins, through her mother, Thankful Snow. Salmon was the son of
Ezra, born in Mass. on 12/10/1698. Ezra married Elizabeth Wright. Ezra's father was
John, born 5/16/1665. He married Sarah Sabin. Sarah Sabin was the daughter of Mary Billington, a first generation Mayflower Decendant. John was the son of
Eldad, born 1638. Eldad married Mehitabel Mowry. Eldad built a house in Rehoboth, Mass in 1663 that still stands. He was punished for being one of seven men who founded the first permanent Baptist Church in Massachusetts. The punishment was having to leave Rehoboth and move to Swansea on lands granted by the court. Eldad was the son of
John Kingsley, born 9/17/1614 in Hampshire, England. John settled in Rehoboth, Mass. He married Elizabeth Stoughton. John was the son of
"The English Kingsleys"
John
Kinsey, born May 03, 1579, and died 1639. Notice the missing "G". This was dropped to show defiance to the King of England who was in disfavor with the Kingsleys. He was the son of
Edward Kinniesly, born 1543 and died about 1600, and Margaret Bond.
