Carson, IA., Aug. 16--With a crowd of 5,000 people in attendance from all parts of Iowa the veterans' reunion here closed tonight with a camp fire following a day full of events of interest to the old soldiers and their friends present. Eighty-two old soldiers registered during the three days of the encampment.
Today's program consisted of several concerts by the Avoca Band, addresses by Frank Shinn, A. L. Preston, Shirley Gillilland of Mills County and J. J. Hess of Council Bluffs. This evening was devoted to story telling by soldiers of the Civil War, addresses and music.
The program for last night's camp fire was as follows: a band concert; addresses by C. G. Saunders of Council Bluffs on "Past and Present," Hon. John Fletcher of Avoca, James Patton of Macedonia and others, interspersed with the music.
Five thousand people were on the grounds.
