My name is Alberta Austin Jordan. This page focuses on genealogical research. I am the primary researcher and the records custodian for my family. These documents are designed to gain an historical perspective of the Austin-Drayton -- Barron-Bailey family. I have been compiling historical information on my family for more than twenty-four years. In 1996, I accomplished more than I had in the previous fourteen years. However, in 2003 I finally found my great-grandmother and great-grandfather, Sarah Drayton's mother and father. Thus far, we have discovered approximately 800 family members.
We have compiled approximately seventy-five "surnames" in our FAMILY TREE. These names include Berry, Clinton, Ford, Hamilton, Morris, Murray, Pinckney, and Wooten.
The patriarch of the Austin family was William. He was born c. 1858 on Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina.
The patriarch of the Barron family was Elias. He was born c. 1860 on Edisto Island, South Carolina.
The earliest member of the Bailey family was Edward. He was born c. 1893 on Edisto Island, South Carolina.
The earliest member of the Drayton family was my great-grandfather, Scipio. He was born c. 1845 on St. Helena's Island, South Carolina.
