James McCarty Robertson (1931) and Jo Ann Davis (1933) had one son and two daughters: James McCarty, Jr., Jane Ann, and Joyce Ann.

Of Interest! The oldest McCarty in the line of James Madison McCarty was age 99 years, Wednesday, January 14, 1998. She was Crystal McCarty Nell, from Hollis, Harmon County, Oklahoma, passing away Saturday, May 2, 1998.

Crystal is the little girl forgotten and left out on the prairie. In late 1899, her parents and two older sisters stopped for a rest break, traveling from Hico, Erath County, Texas, in a covered wagon, with their farm animals along, to old Greer County, Oklahoma Territory, to make their land claim. The two older sisters, Vera and Jewel, were responsible for the care of their baby sister. After the rest break and traveling a short distance, they realized the baby had been left behind. They returned and retrieved the baby and continued their journey. Crystal didn't learn of this incident until just several years ago when her sister, Vera, told the story.
