First of all i'd like to express
my sympathy to those of you, who, like me, did not grow up with computers,
and had to learn using this technology the hard way.
A new meaning for the word
communication, is taking shape, improving interaction and understanding
at a personal level, and ultimately at nations level.
Boundaries are slowly disappearing,
limitations are as wide as our imagination, information access and diversity
is beyond our dreams.
Above all, the most fascinating
feature is the cohesion that is being created among individuals from opposite
backgrounds.
I was born in Lebanon, and grew up in the
land of Sun and Snow, where family life still matters, fostering all the
contradictions of the east and west. A land that gave birth to GIBRAN Kż. GIBRAN,
was the home to the first Law university during the Roman era, and produced
the first printed book in the Middle East. Its native inhabitants, the
Phoenicians, traveled the seven seas in their Cedar built, Long ships sailing
from the ancient ports of BYBLOS, BEIRUT, SIDON and TYR, carrying the Alphabet
and teaching it to Europe and the world. The only people in history that
created colonies using the word, not the sword.
Just like my ancestors, i traveled
around, studying, working, having fun, and learning about different cultures.
From the English i learned patience,
from the Greeks impatience, from the French commitment, from the Cypriots
tenacity, from the Scots warmth ... especially after going through a bottle
of scotch, from the Saudi Arabians how to spend money, and from my own
people, the value of education, peace and freedom .... so instead of becoming
a very mixed up guy, i opted to settle in the beautiful land of Australia,
where i learned that home is anywhere you decide to make it.
