The seeds for Alizarin were planted in the summer of 1995 while we were living
in Georgia.  I had contacted a breeder in the Atlanta area who invited me to a local dog show
and to the meeting of the Dogwood Welsh Springer Spaniel Club.  My interest in the breed had begun years earlier as I watched fellow junior showmanship competitors with their beautiful red & white dogs.
Ready to re-enter the dog world, I immediately thought of those wonderful spaniels.
I was not disappointed.  The fanciers that I met were happy to help me learn more about the breed.
After a move to Europe in early 1996 and an exhaustive search for a Welshie, I decided on a puppy from Marjo Jaakkola in Finland.  That was not to be, however, as I wanted a boy and Marjo's litter was all girls (something we know about here at Alizarin).  In the end, Benjamin came to us from England and has been my shadow ever since.  Ben was never shown and was neutered as a young dog.  I became increasingly active in meeting Welshie fanciers overseas and enjoyed a trip to the World Dog Show in Vienna in 1996.  There I met Laila Gistedt, who later invited me to her home in Sweden.  Laila introduced me to many of Sweden's top breeders.  It was during this trip that I confirmed everything I had suspected from photos...I wanted a puppy from Merry One's kennel, most especially from their bitch "Tango", Merry One's Grace and Glory.  Tango was everything I wanted in a Welshie.  My dreams came true in the summer of 1998.  Tango's daughter Hallie became a  world traveler when she joined our household.  She came to live in Germany in July and then moved with us to the U.S. in August.
Alizarin Welsh Springers is located near both Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland.
Our first litter was born in December, 2000.  Litters are a special occasion here, not a frequent occurrence.  Our goal is to produce Welsh Springer Spaniels who are not only excellent examples of their breed physically, but free from genetic disease and equipt with superb, outgoing temperaments.  We are always willing to talk "Welsh".  E-mail us at:  vick.d@erols.com
