Come right on in and make yourself comfortable. Would you like something to drink; a glass of tea, a cup of coffee, or maybe some lemonade?
I know this place is a little rough right now. This is my first home, but when I get it finished this place will be pretty and hopefully peaceful and that you will return again and again.
I would like to tell you a little about myself:I am a 60 year-old widow, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. I have 6 daughters 14 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandaughters and 1 great grand son.
I am a born again, Blood bought Christian. My first love is the Lord Jesus Christ, the second my family, and the third my country. I don't know why the Lord allowed me to be born in this country but I am so grateful He did.
I don't own my home, most of my posessions are old as dirt but I live in this wonderful free country. Thats right ,I am a flag waver. My husband was a veteran, my brothers are veterans, my brothers in law are veterans and I am proud of them.
I hope to make many friends and to be a friend to many. I believe this is just one of the many ways God uses me to minister to His people. It is such a blessing to me to be used by the Lord.
Two of my daughters are writers. The 22 year-old is an aspiring novelist and one other is a poet. I have one of her poems below. I am very proud of all my girls, they are the joy of my life.I will have many poems by my other daughter, who wrote the poem below.
I enjoy sewing, crocheting, quilting and my grand children going home after being here a couple of hours. But I will tell you about them some other time.
I have a list of email friends. We talk to each other each and every day. There are 18 or 19 of us from all over the world but I don't know what I would do if I didn't have them. We are the shoulder to lean on the the heart to cry with and the slap on the back we all need at one time or another. There are many times when all we need in this world is for 1 person to say "Atta girl." Well I am blessed to have 18 to cry with me, laugh with me and me with them.
Have you ever seen a pansy bed after a snow? The flowers are breathtaking when they are peeking through the new snow. I do beleive the pansy is the most beautiful thing the Lord has made. Well after my grand kids that is.
She arises with the morning stars before the sun appears. Across the air, soft and low,her song you sometimes hear. At times the song grows weary,at other times the song is strong,
But regardless of tasks or trials, the song goes ever on. She sings for the husband who doesn't always show he cares. And she sings for the children who often take it for granted that she'll be there. Her song is heard by the One who loves her best, The Lord who sees her unshed tears behind eyes in need of rest. He holds a special blessing and imparts to her with love... The strength and wisdom for each day, sent from God above. As she continues to sing the song in giving of herself... To cook the meals and mend the clothes,to dust the stands and shelves, She doesn't always hear the melody coming back to her. But within her household,a song begins to stir. Because God,the Father, says so,the gates of Hell cannot prevail. God promises a blessing and His word will never fail. As Proverbs states the virtues of a woman, strong and true, I stand and claim the promises,Mom,blessed I say are you.
She dedicated that poem to me on Mother's Day of 1992.
I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred the dates on her tombstone from the begining-to the end.
He noted that first came the hour of her birth and spoke of the second with tears, but he said that what mattered most of all was the dash between the years.
For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth, and now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not how much we own, the cars, the house, the cash. What matters is how we love and live and how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard, are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left. You could be at mid-dash.
If we could just slow down enough to consider what's true and what's real, and always try to understand the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we've never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile, remembering that this special dash might only last a while.
So when your eulogy is read with your life's actions to rehash would you be pleased with the things they say about how you spent your dash? ---written by Linda EllisLinda's Lyrics
