Hi !
There is a lot of development going on in our area with new houses
going up all around. The suburbanites that move out here feel its ok
to let their dogs run (after all, that's one reason they moved out here),
so the dogs got the last of our chickens and I gave up and didn't replace
them.
We live on 5 acres of farm country in mid
Michigan, USA. We are about 12 miles from a small country
town. Our house is
a 104-year-old farmhouse and it takes most of our time just
to keep it from falling down around us. We raised pygmy
goats, chickens and various other animals depending on the time
of year and what was needed in the freezer until I retired a couple
of years ago. We sold the goats. I really miss them.
Dewey is a cabinetmaker. He does any needed remodeling and repairs himself. We haven't found anything he can't fix or repair. It's a good thing too, because there is sure plenty of things that need fixing and repairing around here. He fishes and hunts. To him the opening of deer season is a national holiday. There just isn't a question of where he will be and what he will be doing on Nov. 15th. This past year he bought a muzzleloader simply because it meant the season would be longer for him. So now he hunts with a bow, muzzle loader and gun.
I make quilts and do various types of needlework. I try to get to quilt shows in our area and love to spend time shopping for fabric. I don't know if I'm a true quilter or just addicted to fabric. I love the wonderful patterns and colors that are available. I just love feeling a good cotton quilt fabric. I do machine quilting but I always have a lap project sitting by my chair to work on in the evenings. The machine is fast but I really enjoy working with my hands. The feel of silk ribbon or rayon thread is very comforting to me. And hand quilting gives me a feeling of accomplishment.
Some of my
We both like football (unfortunately all we
have for a team are the Lions),
and hockey (Go Wings). I'm also a big stock car fan. I was a Dale
Earnhardt fan long before he became popular. I was a fan back when he drove
for Wrangler and his colors were blue and yellow. His death was a shock and
he will be missed.
We've enjoyed your visit and would like to know what you think of our page. Our guest book quit working but you can e-mail us. I hope to get another guest book up and running soon.
