Metz My Dad, Metz Pachosa, lived a good life. He lived longer than anybody else in his family so far. He build permanent monuments to his life all over America: Cheat Haven Dam in PA; New Milford Dam, North Branford Dam, and Cobble Mountain Dam in Conneticut; Waterville Dam in NC; Westend Bridge in Pittsburgh; A Truck Tunnel in NYC; Boulder Dam in NV; Broadway Tunnel in CA; Grand Coulee, Chief Joseph, and Wanapum Dams in WA; and Noxon and Yellowtail Dams in MT. My Brother, Bob, mentioned yesterday, 1 Mar 97, that his death effects us in a different way; it was expected. He was failing fast since he got out of the hospital on 23 Dec 96 after a 23 day stay. We were living with "the fear of his dying", so now it is sort of a serene peace. Not like the shock of an unexpected death, but still a shock. When I was here in January, I could see the difference from the time I was here in November. While I was in New Orleans I was expecting to have to leave at anytime. In 1990 I was in Houston, TX, when I was notified of my Uncle Jack's Death. I was on my way to New Orleans at that time, also. I left Houston at 6 a.m. and drove all the way back to Florida and arriving at 4 a.m. That was a tough drive when all you can do is drive and think. So I had made that drive before. Dad's last few years were more of an existance than a life. As he became less mobile all he could do was lay in bed and watch TV or visit with relatives and friends on the phone or in person. Thankfully, he was still mentally alert all the time. He could remember things that even I had forgotten. At the last he was sleeping most of the day. My Dad, Metz Pachosa, lived a good life.
