SNOW BASIN - 2/6/00 |
||||
We decided to try skiing at Snow Basin on our second day. It's 50 miles north of Salt Lake City and we'd heard differing stories about it from locals on previous trips. So, we did some research and found that they are in the middle of a very aggressive expansion project in preparation for the 2002 Olympics. They have doubled size and lift capacity in the past two years and are now improving ground facilities. We skied there a half day on Sunday and liked it a lot. We were going to come back and ski it again on our last day but the weather trashed on us. We didn't get many pictures and the ones we did get don't really do it justice. It's a very nice place to ski and there are absolutely no lift lines. This place is skied primarily by locals.

The view from the summit. As you can see, there are a lot of long, open "cruising" runs. The 2002 men's downhill will be held here. The town of Huntsville is down in the valley.
