Our Trip to China
It took place from November 14 - November 29, 2001
My wife and I had been married over 5 years and had given up home of having kids, so we decided to adopt.  After looking at various programs, we decided to adopt from China through Children's Hope International.
We started the paperwork in February 2000, soon after I graduated from school and we moved to Nebraska.  It took us seven months to get all of the paperwork together and submitted.  Then began the wait for the referral.
While we were waiting, my wife got pregnant.  She would be too far along to make the trip to China so we needed someone else to go and help out.  That's where Mom comes in.
In September 2001 we finally got our referral.  We got two pictures, a medical report and information on our beautiful baby girl, Shao Jian Dong.  She was born November 26, 2000, and found abandoned at the gate of a hotel on December 26, 2000.
It took us two months to make the travel arrangements, and on November 15, 2001, I took off from LA to begin the trip to get our new daughter.
