Thanksgiving 1999
This year for the second time we hosted friends for Thanksgiving. Actually they invited themselves and then notified us. Here are pictures from that feast and the adjacent days and adventures.

Seated are Carol Ruffing of San Francisco--a friend of ours, originally met through my sister Lydia--and me. In back are Tina and William Harrison of Costa Mesa, CA, and Sue Gustofson of Martinez, CA. William, Sue, and I went to engineering school together at Oregon State, many moons ago. I cooked paella in lieu of turkey. It was a big hit (see recipe on separate page). |
We had three kids too. That's Benjamin on the left. In the middle is Avery O'Hara, daughter of an old friend of mine Marna Williams (from Birmingham) and her husband Ed O'Hara (from Virginia). They didn't make it to Thanksgiving. They were sorting genes in Palo Alto instead. The girl on the right is Anna Marie Harrison, daughter of Tina and William. | ![]() |

Wendy painted their faces one morning. They really got into the act of playing like cats, coming and mewing and rubbing up against our legs. |
