Michael Moran, Once Rosemount Man, Succumbs
Mike Moran, for many years a resident of Rosemount, died in St. Paul on Tuesday.
He was a brother of the late Thomas P. Moran, for many years probate judge
of Dakota county, and John Moran of Indiana. The obituary was not available
today.

JOHN MORAN SR. DIES IN INDIANA
Dakota County Native And Pioneer Buried At Rosemount, Thursday
John L. Moran, a pioneer of Dakota County, died Monday evening in Sacred
Heart Home, Avilla, Indiana. Funeral services were held at St. John's Catholic
church, Rosemount, Thursday morning at 9:30 o'clock. Interment was at Rosemount,
with Rev. Frank Lawrence Carey, officiating.
Mr. Moran, a resident of Rosemount many years, and well known in this county,
was the son of Parick and Catherine (Sheridan) Moran, who were natives of
Ireland. He was born in this country about 80 years ago.
He is survived by a daughter, Marie Langdon of Laporte, Indiana and a son,
John Moran of St. Paul. Mr. Moran's first wife, the former Helen Kelly died
about 40 years ago and his second wife died about eight years ago. He is
survived by three sisters; Mrs. Mike Corcoran of Rosemount; Mrs. Wm. Kelly
of Lebanon; Mrs. John Farrell of St. Paul. He was a brother of the late Thomas
P. Moran, judge of probate court for many years in Dakota county, and of
the late Mrs. Will Gibbons of Farmington.

MRS. J.L. MORAN CALLED BY DEATH
Dies In St. Joseph's Hospital, St. Paul, Following Nervous Breakdown
Mrs. John L. Moran, age 65, a prominent woman of the Rosemount-Farmington
community, died at 1:30 o'clock Sunday morning, October 18th, in St. Joseph's
hospital, St. Paul, where she had been taking treatments for the past month
following a nervous breakdown. Her removal in the hospital failed to check
her rapidly failing strength.
The remains lay in state at the Murphy & O'Halloran Undertaking parlors,
St. Paul, until Tuesday norning when they were removed to Rosemount where
the funeral was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, of which she was a
member. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Carey officiated at the church services. He was
assisted with the services at the cemetery by Rev. Fr. Buckley of Northfield.
Burial was made in the Furey lot in Hazelwood cemetery. The pallbearers included
six cousins, Thomas, Milton, Mozart, Leon, Bloss and John Mulligan. It is
said that the funeral cortege was the longest that has been witnessed in
this community for several years.
Rose Bohan was born in Ireland 65 years ago. When 14 years of age she came
to America and resided at the James Furey home in Hazelwood for 14 years,
later residing in St. Paul and Minneapolis. In 1917 she was united in marriage
to John L. Moran who resides midway between Farmington and Rosemount.
About a month ago she suffered a nervous breakdown necessitating her removal
in St. Joseph's hospital, St. Paul, where everything possible was done to
stay the hand of death. Her husband, who was at her bedside almost constantly,
said that her condition did not improve from the time her illness started.
A large number of friends and relatives from various sections attended the
funeral, including Mrs. W.J. Langdon of LaPorte, Ind., and John Moran of
Dakota.
The community extends sympathy to the husband and family in their hour of
sorrow.

Mrs. Katherine Gibbons Is Released From Suffering As Church Prayers

Mrs. Katherine Gibbons 59 years old, died at her home here last Sunday moving
after a long standing illness. Her children were at her bedside at the time
of death. Funeral services were held at St. Michael's church. Father Moran
officiating. Burial was at Rosemount cemetery. Members of W.D.O.F. Rosary
society and D. of H. marched at the funeral.
Mrs. Gibbons was born at Rosemount, July 4, 1866, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Patrick Moran. She received her education at Hastintgs, Minn., and was united
in marriage to Wm. Gibbons of Farmington, Nov. 23, 1888. Four children were
born to this union, all of whom now survive her. She has always lived in
Farmington since her marriage. Mrs. Gibbons has always been a devout member
of St. Michael's church, being ever ready to lead in the church activities
and sacificing not only her energy but her material support. Those associated
with her in the W.C.O.F., D. of H. and Rosary society will miss her wisdom,
and patient direction, "I shall never forget Mrs. Gibbons patience and kindness
in the many very critical moments of our meetings," said one member. "We
will miss her, she was patience and kindness and thoughtfulness personified."
"As a neighbor she was unsurpassed" said another.
Her sterling Christian character served her well in her remaining days. She
sduffered from an insurable disease for over a year, at times suffering intense
pain which she sanctified by offering it to her God. "Not my will but thine
be done: were the words most freq1uently on her lips and "Into' Thy Hands,
O Lord, I commend My Spirit." The Lord whose threshold she so often crossed
in the days of health came to her during illness, receiving Holy communion
weekly. While St. Michael's congregation was praying for the grace of a happy
death she breathed her last on Sunday morning.
Her children, Mrs. Walter Olson of Farmington; Byron, LeRoy and Irene of
St. Paul were present at the end. Five sisters and three brothers survive
her; Mrs. M.J. Corcoran, Mrs. Wm Kelly, John Moran of Rosemount, Mrs. C.W.
Burns of Mendota, Mrs. P.H. McCarthy of Buffalo, Minn., Mrs. J.W. Farrell
and M.J. Moran of St. Paul, and Thos. P. Moran, judge of probate, of Hastings.

Two brothers, wellknown in this community died four days apart.
The first to pass away was William J. Gibbons, age 69, in St. Paul, Aug.
8, after an illness of two years. Her is survived by a wife and four children.
Funeral services were held Friday at Rosemount form St. Joseph's church,
Rev. Fr. D. J. Moran officiating.
Sunday, four days later, his brother, Walter Gibbons of Lakeville, died of
uriuie poisoning. He was 81 years old. He is survived by his wife who was
formerly Mary Kelly. He formerly lived on the Gibbons farm between Farmington
and Rosemount. Later he moved to St. Paul and then to St. Louis where he
resided 22 years. Two years ago he moved, with his wife to Lakeville and
lived at the home of Miss Ann Kelly. The funeral was held at the All Saints
church Tuesday, Rev. Fr. Hart officiating.
