He married MARY ANN DOWNEY February 04, 1890 in Rosemount, MN, daughter of PATRICK DOWNEY and ELISA COLLINS She was born November 07, 1870 in Rosemount, MN, and died September 15, 1943 in Rosemount, MN. In 1920 Patrick was Superintendent of the Poor Farm on Jefferson
Hwy. The 1900 census states that Mary was mother of 7 living children. Dakota County Tribune of

McCARTHY TAKEN BY DEATH The funeral
of Patrick H. McCarthy was held at St. Joseph's church, Rosemount, March 15th
at 9:00 a.m. Rev. James Furey officiated.
The pallbearers were H.J. Geraghty, A.T. McMonemy, William Cunniff, T.J.
Corrigan, A.S. Weiderhold and Edwin Doyle.
Mrs. James McDonald, church organist accompanied the choir and played
the funeral music. Burial was in St.
Joseph's cemetery. Mr. McCarthy died March 11, 1943 from heart ailment at 8:35
p.m., after being in ill health the last three years. He was born in Rosemount township, March 14, 1864 and he resided
on the same farm his entire life. He
was well known and highly respected in that community. Mr. McCarthy was united in marriage with Miss Mary Ann Downey
in St. Joseph's church, Rosemount, Feb. 4, 1890. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Catherine
and Mary of St. Paul; Patrick Jr., Canada, James, Charles, Francis, Sylvia, and
Sadie at home; Louis and Mrs. John Weiderhold of Rosemount. One brother and two sisters also survive
namely, Jerry of Farmington, Kate and Mrs. Dakota County Tribune of
Sept. 24, 1943 MRS.
McCARTHY CALLED BY DEATH Mrs. Mary Ann McCarthy, highly respected woman of this
community, widow of the late Patrick H. McCarthy, died of pneumonia at her home
in Rosemount, Sept. 15, at 2:30 a.m. at the age of 73 years, after three days
illness. She was born in Rosemount township Nov. 7, 1870, daughter of
Patrick and Eliza Downey. She was
united in marriage to Patrick H. McCarthy Feb. 4, 1890. To this union 12 children were born, six sons,
Patrick, James, Francis, Charles, Louis, and Sgt. Edmund L. of Fort Ord, Calif.;
six daughters, Catherine, Mary, Sylvia, Sadie, Josephine (Mrs. John
Weiderhold), and Rose who died in infancy.
She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Nell Otte of Hastings and two
brothers, Thomas Downey of St. Paul and Patrick, also three grandchildren. The funeral was held Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock in St.
Joseph's church at Rosemount, Rev. James J. Furey officiated followed by the
recital of rosary by Rev. Lawrence Carey.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were E.J. McDonald, H.J. Geraghty, C.R. McMenomy, Edwin

Mr. Patrick McCarthy, one of the pioneer residents of Rosemount, died last Tuesday night after an illness of only a few hours. He was about seventy-five years old, and leaves a wife and six grown children in comfortable circumstances. The funeral took place Thursday morning, the
remains being interred in the Inver Grove cemetery

Mrs. Catherine McCarthy,m an old and highly esteemed resident of Dakota County, died at the home of her son, P.H. McCarthy, in Rosemount, last Sunday evening, after a protracted illness, at the advanced age of ninety-eight years, She was the widow of Patrick McCarthy, and leaves three sons and three daughters, Mrs. John Hayes, Charles, Jeremiah, and Patrick H., of Rosemount, and Winifred and Katherine, of Farmington. The funeral was held from St. Patrick's Church, Inver Grove, on Wednesday, at ten a.m., Father Ryan officiating. Interment at the church cemetery.
