Westchester Community Guide

Community Overview

Westchester is a village of about 17,000 14 miles west of downtown Chicago. While primarily residential, four 10-story office developments have been built (with one more planned), and two townhouse developments have also been completed. Recreational opportunities include an active Park District program, Forest Preserves on the south end of town, and the Prairie at Wolf Rd. Grade School-Aged children attend either District 92.5 or Hillside District 93 schools. Secondary students go to Proviso West High School, District 209, in Hillside. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-294/Tri-State Tollway, I-290/Eisenhower Expwy.), and major local roads (Mannheim Road). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra's Burlington Northern Line (BN) in LaGrange. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 30 minutes (express).
