Community Overview
Round Lake and surrounding communities have a combined population of about 26,000 and are located 46 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. While primarily residential, Round Lake has an industrial park, where Grieve Co. (a manufacturer of commercial ovens) is a major local employer Recreational opportunities include the programs of the Round Lake Area Park District. District 116 provides primary and secondary education for the community. (See below for details on schools).
Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-94//Tri-State Tollway, I-290/Eisenhower Expwy.), and major local roads (I-120/Belvidere Rd, Fairfield Rd., Rollins Rd.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the Metra Milwaukee District North Line (MD-N). Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 75 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE.
