Riverdale Community Guide
Community Overview
Riverdale is a town of about 14,000 23 miles southeast of downtown Chicago. The village has an expo center which hosts conventions and trade shows, as well as a 60,000 volume plus public library. Recreational opportunities include the Park District's programs. Grade school-aged children attend school in districts 133 and 148. Secondary students go to Thornton Township High Schools, district 205. (See below for details on schools).
Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-394/Calumet Expwy., I-80/294). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra at the Homewood, Hazel Crest and Riverdale stations.
