Oak Lawn/Hometown Community Guide

Community Overview

Oak Lawn is a village of about 57,000 15 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. Oak Lawn has a large commercial district as well as extensive single family residential development. The town has an active Park District and a Public Library. Schoolchildren attend either elementary district 122 or 123 schools, and go on to Oak Lawn High School (district 229) or Richards High School (district 218). A number of parochial schools also are within the town borders. (See below for details on schools). Note: Hometown schools are included in this booklet.

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-294/Tri-State Tollway, I-94/Dan Ryan Expwy., I-57), and major local roads (Cicero Ave., 95th. St.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra's Norfolk & Western Line. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 38 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE.
