Northbrook Community Guide

Community Overview

Northbrook is a village of about 30,000 20 miles north of downtown Chicago. The town has a balanced mix of commercial and residential development. Recreational opportunities include the programs and facilities of the Park District. Elementary school districts 21, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 31 serve the community and secondary students attend Glenbrook High School, district 225. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-294/Tri-State Tollway, I-94/Edens Expwy.), and major local roads (Dundee Rd.,Waukegan Rd., Milwaukee Ave.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra at the Winnetka or Glenview stations. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 40 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE.
