Lindenhurst Community Guide

Community Overview

Lindenhurst is a village of about 8,300 42 miles north of downtown Chicago. Primarily residential and still rural in character, Lindenhurst has commercial development, particularly along Grand Avenue. Recreational opportunities include the facilities of the county forest preserves, skiing & ice fishing in the winter, Six Flags Great America Theme Park in Gurnee, and the programs of the Lindenhurst Park District. Districts 24 and 41 provide primary school education for the community, while secondary students attend Antioch High School, district 117 or Grayslake High School, district 127. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-94//Tri-State Tollway, I-290/Eisenhower Expwy.),and major local roads (I-120/Belvidere Rd, Fairfield Rd., Rollins Rd.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the Metra Milwaukee District North Line (MD-N). Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 75 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE.
