Lake Zurich is a village of about 15,000 37 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Recreational opportunities include fishing,water sports and Park District programs at Lake Zurich, and the facilities of the local forest and nature preserves. Many horseback riding stables are located in the area and golfers can use the facilities at one of 15 golf courses within a 10 minute drive. All school-aged children who attend public schools go to unit district 95 (K-12th. grade) schools, including Lake Zurich High School. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-94/Edens Expwy., I-294/Tri-State Tollway, I-90/Northwest Tollway), and major local roads (U.S. 12/Old McHenry Rd., Midlothian Rd.).
