Lake Forest Community Guide

Community Overview

Lake Forest is a village of about 18,000 31 miles north of downtown Chicago. The town, while largely residential, has office development along I-60 in Conway Park, as well as on the west side and downtown areas. Recreational/Cultural opportunities include the programs of the Park District. Grade school-aged children attend district 67 or 72 schools, while secondary students go to Lake Forest High School, district 115. (See below for details on schools).

Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-94/Tri-State Tollway and U.S. 41), and major local roads (U.S. 41/Skokie Blvd., I-43/Waukegan Rd.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 44 minutes (express). Local bus service is available from PACE. The RTA Travel Info.
