THE TRIBE

As a new member you and your child will become part of a tribe. A tribe consists of about eight fathers and their childern. Tribes generally meet at least once a month for activities that are planned by that tribe. Each tribe selects a "chief" and possibly other officers to be responsible for specific duties in leading the tribe. The details of the tribal format are contained in the Indian Guides manual.

THE NATION

The Nation is in essence,the sum of all parts, all tribes joining together as one. Throughout the year all members are encouraged to attend the official Nation events as well as many "fun" events that are scheduled. This schedule is published in our "SmokePuff" newsletter which is mailed to all current members on a monthly basis.

The nation officers consist of fathers who have volunteered extra time to lead the overall program. There are also monthly "Longhouse Meetings" in which all officers, tribe representatives, and any father who is interested may attend to discuss nation event planning, fund-raising, and all other business concerning the members, tribes, and the nation as a whole. All fathers are encouraged to attend these Longhouse meetings.
