I have always loved houseplants and my house has always been filled with them. A few years ago I was shopping at the mall and the local African Violet Society was having their yearly show and sale. I just couldn't believe all the different types of violets and ALL the different colors of the blooms. I bought 5 or 6 plants from them. After I got home, I kept thinking about all the beautiful plants they had and that this was probably my only chance to get some more. So back to the mall I went and bought more. I also found information on joining their club.

At the first meeting, we played leaf bingo. Whenever you won a game you got to go and pick out some leaves that were left over from the sale. I must have come home with 30 leaves. I was so excited. Little did I know at the time that each leaf would make a few plants.

I became Violet crazy! At every meeting I brought home more and more violets. Through my club I took a class and became a student judge. I was invited to judge at a few shows in another state, so off I went. What fun and what great people I met!

I also have a variety of gesneriads and other misc plants.

I did find a great way to water all my plants. I bought a 30 gallon trash can, submersible pump, 40 feet of tubing and a waterwand with a thumb on/off switch. Now I fill up the can, add my fert, and I can water in no time at all. It's really great.
