Lincoln High School
A very, very long time ago, before the dawn of recorded history, I was a schoolboy in a magical land beside the sea.
I lived in Sea Gate, the westernmost part of Coney Island, the southernmost part of Brooklyn. Therefore, I went to Abraham Lincoln High School. It was inescapable.
I was only there for thirty-four months (September, 1949, through June, 1952), but many experiences of that time are etched into my mind like the acid burns on the face of the phantom of the opera.
Here's to Lincoln.
Cheers to Lincoln.
Raise her colors high.
Fling her praise
Upon the breezes;
Shout it to the sky.
Sing to Lincoln,
Bring to Lincoln
Glory and renown.
Make Lincoln High the best
In New York town.

Note: My thanks to Julien Green (class of 1942) for correcting the error in the fourth line and to Rena Stutman (class of 1963) for changing it back. And thanks to others for the discussion of "colors" versus "banner". I have decided to show the school song as I want it to be.

Many members of my family also attended Lincoln and I have absorbed some of their memories.
 Unrequited Love, my mother's story
 Mitzvah Girls, Aunt Leonore's story
Never Say "Uncle", Aunt Sally's story

My own memories are not as romantic:
 American History
 Art
 English
 Extra-curricular, the exam club
 Extra-curricular, the football game
 French
 Graduation, the end
 Homeroom, the day begins
 Homework, "Silas Marner"
 Homework, "Two Victorian Poems"
 Lunch
 Mathematics
 Music
 Passing from class to class
 Physical Education (Gym)
 Publications
 Regents' Exam
 Study Hall
 What We Didn't Learn

Recently I found many Lincoln alumni on the Internet at ClassMates.com. For a while I participated in the chat. The following are some of the messages I posted:
