PATCH TRADING

Our Holiday Service project with the Rotary was a great success!! Thank you to all troops that made centerpieces. We had enough for all the holiday baskets. Several troops also made or sent napkins with rings, utensils, cups and treats. Thank you again for the extra effort.
We had two Cadettes, two Juniors and four Brownies do an opening flag ceremony for the Rotary Club's Holiday Lunch. They did a wonderful job and made us all very proud.

It's cookie time!!! Be sure you have all the proper forms , signatures etc. for your girls. Desiree and Amy can answer any questions you may have. Also please remember - You may not sell GS Cookies the Internet. You may contact family and freinds through e-mail , but you cannot set up a web site for sales or use an auction site like e-bay.

Our Cadettes are making a patch display for the Service Unit. If you have any extra patches (participation or earned) please contact Laura at srsljs@pacbell.net. We even have several extra patches that we will trade if you like. See the new link above for more information.
In adition to the patch display we are also collecting Girl Scout items for a service unit display. To celebrate the new Millenium Troop 403 has been working on the "Honor the Past, Imagine the Future" program. We are looking for any Girl Scout memorabilia to add to our collection. We already have two uniforms from the 70's and some patches. Pictures, books, calendars, patches, pins , uniform pieces - anything would be helpful.

We had many leaders volunteer themselves and thier troops for several upcoming events:
Camporee - Dee, Georgette and Troop 1974. Hawaiin theme at Fleming Lodge.
Thinking Day , Feb 18, 2000- Lori and Troop 921 Contact Lori for more information.
Father-Daughter Dance - Moved to Feb 5th , Natalie Englehart Troop 403. Me and My Guy western theme.
Skate Night - Sue ,Laura and Troop 935
Retiring Flag Ceremony - Troop 403 and Service Team. This should happen in the spring.

If your troop is interested in having Prgram Aides come to your meetings to helpout please contact Jean Wilson. Jean has a list of program aides and the list of PARK kits (Program Aide Resource Kit). I will work on getting the list on-line so you can see what's available.

Carol has several Brownie uniforms a few Jr uniforms available for loan. Please call her if you need them for an event or ceremony.

We now have a community relations representative - Diane Houlton. Diane has been trained by the council for correct procedures for submitting articles to local papers. She also has developed a relationship with the paper to ensure our "news" is printed. Please contact her for submitting articles about upcoming events or about your troop activities.

We have a few new books in our library - " Off and Running Exploring Sports Careers"
"Read to Lead" for Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts
"Sidewalk Games Around the World" (games from 26 countries - good tool for Thinking Day)
We have also gotten in some video tapes on a variety of subjects (no movies, mostly documentary/learning style, but fun).
DO you have an old TV or VCR you would like to donate so troops that do not meet in homes can view these movies?

We have a Placer Gold forum on MyFamily.com for any Girl Scout, GS Leader or parent volunteer in Rocklin. Contact Laura Schmidt for a password to access it.

A reminder to all leaders - Check your signature cards at the bank. You must have two current service team members on your account. We have had some changes in team members this year and several accounts are not up to date.

Do you have an e-mail address? If you haven't given it to us please do. We will keep you updated ,via e-amil, on events and announcements throughout the month. You can e-mail Service Team members below by clicking on the highlighted names.
