Welcome to Success Kennels
I entered my first dog show in
1969 in Nebraska and in 1975 I started showing in AKC Collies. I loved showing collies because of their
loving and outgoing personalities. I started looking for another breed to show with similar personality
traits of the collie, but with less grooming required.I saw my first Shar Pei at a show in 1980 and
became immediately interested in the breed. With a lot of research into Shar Pei, I knew I had found
the breed for me. Chinese Shar Pei were perfect, they had everything the collie had, except the long
coat or size.
In 1982, I purchased my first Shar Pei, "Slukii's Lit'le Bit of Magic", a fawn
horsecoat female. When I retired my last collie in 1984, I purchased my foundation male Shar Pei, "Myer's
Fragrant Flap", a black horsecoat, I co-owned with Nikki Myers, his sire was "CH. Yu Mi-Te Man of
Tzo Tzo. In 1986, I purchased another female fawn horsecoat, "Kriden'sTi-Tsiao-Kou" by "CH. Mar-Bo's
Toby X Fingertail's Hi-Ho Cherrio".
In 1987, I purchased my "true" foundation bitch, "Kriden's
Sonic Bang Success" by the great sire "CH. Shir Du Bang". "Soni" passed away from cancer on May 7,
1998 and is still missed in the Veteran class she loved so much.
In 1999, I received my
Cardigan Welsh Corgi "Jake" from Marieann and Steven Gladstone of Aragorn Cardigans. Jake got me back
in the Herding group I missed so much.
I chose to name my kennel "Success" in 1975. After
long thought and consideration of a name, "Success" best described what I wanted to achieve of both myself
and my dogs. I found "Success" was short, and worked well either at the beginning of the name or end.
No one had registered "Success" with CSPCA, so I registered it with them and this has always been my
kennel designation.
